Transatlantic Fellowships enable recent graduates and young professionals from the US or Canada to spend one year at Ecologic Institute in Berlin. Selected individuals have the opportunity to be part of the Institute's international environmental research and consulting program, joining collaborative project teams and contributing to an array of tasks, such as conducting research and co-authoring reports. In addition, Fellows often participate in various environmental and transatlantic events hosted by the Institute itself or by other organizations in Berlin, enabling them to gain a broader understanding of important policy issues. Positions will be again available starting in spring 2016. Ecologic Institute conducts inter- and transdisciplinary environmental research. The experts at Ecologic Institute also prepare political analyses and function as consultants. Ecologic Institute operates branches in Berlin, Brussels and Washington DC. In its role as a private, independent organization, Ecologic Institute is dedicated to the preparation of relevant sociopolitical aspects of sustainability research and contributing new knowledge to environmental policy. Innovative research methods, an orientation on practice and a transdisciplinary approach ensure scientific excellent and social relevance. The work done at Ecologic Institute covers the spectrum of environmental topics and includes the integration of environment-related issues into other political spheres. Ecologic Institute was founded in 1995 and collaborates closely with other European and international bodies, including active participation as a member of the Ecological Research Network (Ecornet). Today, the more than 100 individuals at Ecologic Institute work in a variety of international and interdisciplinary project teams. Your online application should include the following documents: o a cover letter o a CV o a writing sample (e.g. article, essay paper; max. 20 pages) in English o Certificates (e.g. a copy of your diploma, transcripts of your university or recommendation letters of former employers) In order to optimize the experience for the candidate, we ask applicants to clearly outline their (1) desired start date, (2) areas of interest and expertise in the fields in which Ecologic Institute actively works, and (3) ongoing projects that you would potentially be interested in contributing to during your Fellowship. In the time leading up to the fellowship, Ecologic Institute and the Fellow will work together to tailor his or her work at the Institute, taking into account both the Fellow's interests and the work currently being done at Ecologic Institute. While German knowledge is not mandatory, applicants with strong German language skills will be given preference.
